"Featuring a big bright breezy room in a seriously beautiful heritage hotel, some fascinating dishes on offer, and a wine list chosen by the experts, the bistro at Hotel Metropole has to be the best place to eat in Ipswich."

"IT'S taken a long time but finally Ipswich has an eatery worthy of the city' s architectural beauty and growing sophistication. And this consummation, much to be desired, has been achieved by a pub. The Hotel Metropole is one of Ipswich's most gracious old buildings, and it's been transformed into a cafe! restaurant and separate bar in a way that makes the interior modern and fully functional without detracting from its initial old-fashioned grace."
